Sunday July 29, 2007
The first Big Iron Day was an event planned as primarily a social gathering for the church members in conjunction with the Sunday service. A few posters were distributed about town but it was not advertised extensively. The car line-up started before the church service and coffee and doughnuts were served to the entrants. When the church service started, the car entrants joined in the service fellowship.
After the church service, the car show commenced. A pot-luck cookout was arranged with those that wanted to stay for the car show. It was an informal show, with the intent just to gather, fellowship and enjoy the cars & each others company as stories were told about old cars. No awards were handed out but the true award of the day was given to all by each others friendship and company.
Probably, the most notable car of the show was Stan H.'s 1968 Plymouth Barracuda. Fully restored and souped up to go fast! It is pictured in the poster. A good time was had by all and plans for next year's Big Iron Day had already started.
