Mario Andretti wins the 1967 Daytona 500

Victory Lane 1967 Daytona 500. Mario Andretti outran NASCAR Goldenboy and Holman & Moody Ford teammate, Freddie Lorenzen, to become the first non-NASCAR driver to win the Daytona 500. Running the car loose all day, he ran the race's fastest laps.

As a side note, in the movie "Cars", Andretti was potrayed as the #11 Ford Fairlane from this race.
